Alicia Atkins

School Board Representative

With deep gratitude for the collective efforts that uplift us, Alicia proudly embraces her role as a servant leader dedicated to driving positive change in education, empowering communities, and advocating for a vibrant, sustainable environment. Alicia believes serving her second term on the Henrico County School Board as the first female African American representative is an honor.  Alicia successfully advocated, presented, and received unanimous support for the first Educational Equity Policy voted into Henrico County Public Schools policy, and was honored with multiple accolades, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Community Service Award (2021) Child Advocate of the Year Award, CapCity Characters RVA (2023) Black History Month Celebration Award, and the Henrico NAACP (2024). She also works as a Support Service Provider for the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, relaying visual and environmental information, acting as a sighted guide, and facilitating communication for individuals who are Deaf, Blind, or DeafBlind.
