TEDxYouth is created by young people, but created for everyone in RVA — and beyond.
Students working in partnership with adult TEDx mentors on TEDxYouth@RVA learn about the greater Richmond community. They immerse themselves in RVA, discovering creative and passionate individuals and organizations who envision never-before-seen possibilities and bring them to life — to create a community event filled with new voices, unexpected performances, and playfulness.
To curate TEDxYouth@RVA, students discover the diverse experiences and voices in all geographic parts of the greater Richmond region, finding people who dream big or think about wild ideas; people who find small ways to make a difference in the lives of others; maybe even people who fail big and learn from that failure.
With individual and collective action, students are involved in all aspects of the planning — building skills as curators, fundraisers, event managers, media producers, designers, marketing director, lighting technicians, stage hands, and so much more.
Eventually, those talks enter the TEDx global community of free online talks, ensuring that RVA enters the global conversation of ideas in a meaningful way.
